On Tuesday, July 23rd, Apple will release an updated version of its mobile Apple Store app for iPhones and iPod touch. The reason for the update is part of Tim Cook's plan to sell more iPhones direct from Apple Retail. The redesign of the app will connect users to the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBookstore and will include free content downloads for a limited time as a promotion.
Not only will the release promote iPhone sales, but Apple employees are going to be encouraged to install the Apple Store app on new devices because research has shown that only 20% of Apple customers are aware of the Apple Store app’s existence. This redesign will help improve that number and introduce more customers to Apple's direct sales channels.
